Forests are among the most fascinating and defining ecosystems on Earth, covering around one-third of Switzerland and one-third of the world.
We will immerse ourselves in the Sihlwald, a 12 km² internationally known nature reserve that has not been managed since 1996 and is thus developing back into wilderness. Together we will discover the fascinating community of countless plants, animals, and fungi, and learn how this ecosystem functions. We will learn which tree species occur, how old they are, what their joys and concerns are, why spending time in forests is healthy, and the current state of our forests – and much more.
